Who we are

This website, https://www.datacom.ca is owned and operated by DataCom Network Services Inc., a privately held Canadian corporation, located in Cornwall Ontario Canada.

 

The information we collect

 

Site visits

When visiting www.datacom.ca you can do so anonymously. When you do so, we only collect metadata such as your IP address, the date and time of your visit, which pages you accessed, your browser agent and version.

 

Contact form

When contacting DataCom using our contact form we collect additional information such as your name, your email address, along with the subject and contents of the message. We use that information to reply or to contact the sender. Once submitted, the contact information and message is delivered to DataCom and once received is subject to DataCom’s Terms & Conditions and internal policies.

 

Account login

If you are a DataCom subscriber, you may also have an account login. Additional information such as name, address, phone number, etc. is also collected in order to setup an account. Having such an account is subject to DataCom’s Terms & Conditions.

 

Cookies

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen option cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Additional cookies that contain no sensitive information, may also be used to help you navigate the website and facilitate the processing of online orders and payments.

 

eCommerce

The DataCom website has eCommerce functionality which in turn allows us to process customer orders and accept payments through a 3rd party payment processor. When processing payments, some of your data will be passed on to it, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total, the tax collected, and other pertinent billing information.

 

Embedded content

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, RSS feeds, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Data retention

The DataCom website raw metadata is archived and retained for 52 weeks.

The DataCom website generated statistics is also kept for one year and is not made available to the general public.

If you submit a contact form message, the message and its metadata can be deleted or retained in accordance to DataCom’s internal policies.

Information for subscribers with an account is stored in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit account information.

 

Your rights over your data

If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

 

Data screening

Visitor contact form messages are checked for spam using Google’s reCAPTCHA v3 service and is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

 

Data security

We have implemented physical, electronic, and managerial procedures designed to help prevent unauthorized access, to maintain data security, and to use correctly the information collected. These safeguards vary based on the sensitivity of the information. Although we have implemented appropriate measures to safeguard against unauthorized access or disclosures of information, we cannot assure you that information will never be disclosed, altered or destroyed in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy.
